My internship with acondas

During a two-months internship, Tim gained insights into the everyday life of a consultant and was actively supporting one of our project teams during a post-merger integration. He is happy to share his experiences with us.

I am a third semester student of business administration in Münster. Next to my studies I am involved in the student consultancy move e. V., which organizes the event consultingcontact (cc) once a year. The cc is a career fair especially for management consultancies, where students can gain insights into different companies. This is where I got to know acondas at a workshop on “soft skills in project work”. The knowledge that was shared during the workshop and acondas’ consulting focus on implementation projects convinced me: I applied for a two-months internship with acondas in Düsseldorf at the beginning of this year.

After my onboarding, I had the opportunity to support a post-merger integration at an international energy company in the “Change Management” workstream. Especially the daily teamwork, which took place with colleagues from Berlin and Hamburg on a virtual basis, went particularly well. Communication with the customer was also digital.

From the start I was given a lot of trust and I could work independently on tasks in my project area. Furthermore, I gained insights into other topics as well. At the same time, I could approach my project team and my mentor for technical questions at any time. Throughout the entire internship, I accompanied customer workshops on cultural integration and evaluated their feedback. Additionally, I developed a new tool, that determines the developmental status of team maturity and tracks it regularly.

In addition to external project work, acondas continuously supports the further development of its employees. In this context I was able to support the acondas internal function “Project and Change Management” and develop a cultural workshop for new and current acondas employees.

A special experience for me was the strategy meeting with all acondas employees. The management gave a review of the past business year and an outlook on future priorities and projects. During joint team-building activities, I had the opportunity to get to know all colleagues from the various offices.

Thanks to the very personal working culture, I felt welcome and appreciated at acondas from the very beginning. During my internship I learned a lot and have developed professionally.

Take the chance and get to know acondas at an event or during an internship!
